The Glen is a registered "Land For Wildlife" Property and we are careful about what happens here. We are proud of our clean, healthy air and unpolluted dams and creeks.

The wetlands area, has a high environmental value. Located near the cottages, this is an example of how we have in a practical way protected the area such as the reed banks from live stock. In co-operation with local community groups the area also has bird hides located within it. Kangaroos, koalas and more than 100 kinds of native birds are a part of our unspoiled bush and farmland settings. Kangaroos can be seen from every cottage. Banksias, heather, wattle, and other wildflowers on our heathland, show peak colour from April to November. This unique farm valley provides an opportunity to relax and enjoy some quiet and peaceful time with family or friends. Enjoy a walk through the farm with it's creek, bush and heathland setting. Play a game of tennis, or quietly read a book on the cottage verandah.

Directions: 90 minutes from Melbourne along the Great Ocean Road. Drive through Aireys Inlet, past hotel on right. At bottom of hill turn right into Bambra Road; 2 km further on turn left into Old Coach Road. Enterance to THE GLEN Farm Cottages is 1st gate (200m) on right. Each intersection is well sign posted. For enquires ~ 700m further on left at 'Glenview'.

Arrival/~Departure: * Check In: 2pm. On arrival your cottage will be open and ready. If you are arriving later please call and we can leave lights on & in the winter have the fire going. * Check Out: 11am. Unless by prior arrangement. On most weekends we endevour to provide a late afternoon departure, for a more relaxing stay.

Things to do:

Horses@THE GLEN
Take your horse on a holiday. Watch your horse graze from the verandah or lounge chair. We can agist your horse close to the cottages.
Staying else where? You can still bring your horse as well. We also offer agistment on a short term or long term basis.

Weeds & Noxious Plants:
Horses carry seed in their gut from poor quality or contaminated feed. We are very conscious about weeds and noxious plants and the damage they do to the environment and our pastures.
We have spent a lot of time (years) and money ($thousands) managing and controlling weeds on THE GLEN. It takes many years to eradicate a weed once they geminate and spread. Poor quality horse feed is a major cause for the spread of weeds and noxious plants.
You can help us in our management and improve the environment by taking a few simple measures:
* NO Grass Hay, Completo or feed mix which contains 'seed'.
* Please use only Lucerne or a steam treated feed product.
* Gum nuts and/or chaff are OK.
* Please feed horses in the same area all the time.

Paddocks:
Horses take time to establish hierarchical structures in paddocks. If one introduces a new horse into an established group it will lead to fighting. We have a large number of horses permanently agisted on THE GLEN. They are always kept in the same social group.
We use separate paddocks for horses on short term agistment.
If you are staying at THE GLEN Farm Cottages, we will endeavor to have your horse located near the cottages. However, this is dependant on weather, paddock conditions and horse numbers.

Staying @ THE GLEN Farm Cottages:
To maintain the garden setting around the cottages and the amenity for other guests at THE GLEN, there are some simple rules you must follow.
When using the paddocks near THE GLEN:
* Horses are to be taken straight from the paddock to the day yard or the saddling area provided just outside the gate to THE GLEN Farm Cottages.
* Please use the driveway for access.
* No grazing, hand feeding, grooming or riding of horses in the garden areas around the cottages.
* Horse feed is to be left in horse floats and not at the cottages.
All horse owners who agist horses permanently in paddocks near cottages follow these rules.
We do expect that horses agisted short term follow the same rules.

Floats:
We have not experienced any security problems with floats being parked and located at THE GLEN. A day yard and horse float parking area is situated just inside the gate enterance to the cottages. This is also the saddling, grooming and feeding area for horses.
It is important that you DO NOT take horse floats beyond this point into the cottage area – there is insufficient room to turn around with a float, and the tree branches are too low for horse floats to pass.
Horses that are agisted in paddocks other than at the cottages, will also find there is off street parking for floats. If you are concerned about security please bring a padlock or tow ball lock.

General:
It is good manners not to tie horses up to fences. Please remember that horse riding is hazardous. Owners and parents of children are responsible for their own horses.
For more than 30 years THE GLEN has provided agistment for horses, but we do not accept responsibility for the behaviour of horses, the owners and or riders.

Dogs@THE GLEN
THE GLEN is a 'Land For Wildlife' property, providing voluntary nature conservation on our farm. We have an abundance of wildlife and farm animals and each cottage is fenced for pets.
Rates: $10 per night or $35 per week Nearby are beaches where pets are welcome (on lead). We ask that pets are kept under control as a courtesy for other people and animals. Kennels are also provided.
THE GLEN has also established a dedicated dog friendly area of open park land. This area includes 15 acres for dogs off lead, and 150 acres on lead. Marked trails, rest seats, dams for dog swimming and watering points are available.
This is a smoke free area. Plastic bags are prohibited (we have introduced dung beetles which remove dung naturally).
Responsible owners are encouraged.

THE GLEN Dog Haven
Daily visit walker or dog) - $ Gold Coin Extra People (not on a lead) - $ Gold Coin Hours: 6:30 am - 8:30 pm
Conditions:
* Dogs must be registered with a council and have a collar.
* Keep your dog under control.
* Take your rubbish home with you.
* No plastic bags.
* Do not go through fences indicated as ‘out of bounds’.
* Be careful of wild life.
* Important – enjoy walking with your dog.
